Understanding PVC Bag Fabric

PVC tarpaulin combines a reinforcing textile with PVC surfaces. The textile forms the fabric base, while the PVC formulation and surface construction influence appearance and hand feel. A material specification should describe both parts.

How to Read a Bag Fabric Specification

500D × 500D / 18 × 17 / 600 g/m² describes three different properties: yarn size, weave density and finished fabric weight. These values help identify the material; model-specific test data describes its performance.

500D is yarn linear density: 500 grams per 9000 metres. 18 by 17 is warp and weft count per inch. GSM is finished fabric mass per square metre, not thickness or strength.
Denier — the yarn
Denier measures yarn mass per unit length. In this series, both warp and weft are specified as 500D.
Weave density — the textile structure
The 18 × 17 specification denotes 18 warp ends and 17 weft picks per inch, counted in their respective directions.
GSM — the complete material
GSM includes the textile and PVC. Our three nominal weights are 500, 600 and 650 g/m². GSM cannot be converted to a guaranteed thickness or tensile value.

Width is a separate production choice. The available range is 1.05–3.2 m. Match usable width to your panel layout and confirm roll length and edge allowance before ordering.

Base fabric is shown as warp × weft yarn size and weave density in threads per inch. The listed widths are a supply range; confirm usable width, tolerance and roll length with your order.

Choose the Weight for Your Bag Design

DLT-5830 — 500 g/m²: the lowest material weight in this series. Consider it where panel weight is a key design constraint.

DLT-5831 — 600 g/m²: the middle weight option for comparing handling, body and sample performance.

DLT-5832 — 650 g/m²: the highest material weight in this series. Evaluate it when considering a heavier panel construction.

All three share the same nominal yarn size and weave density. Weight alone does not establish tensile strength, tear resistance, thickness or bag load capacity. Compare material samples against your required hand feel, surface finish and technical specification.

Include a color reference, required front and back appearance, preferred hand feel, roll length and usable width. If your project needs flame resistance, cold flexibility, UV resistance or chemical compliance, specify the test standard and acceptance level for review.
