Textilene
What is textilene fabric?
Textilene fabric is a high-performance PVC extrusion-coated polyester mesh material designed for long-term outdoor use. It is widely used in outdoor furniture, sun shading systems, and architectural mesh applications due to its excellent durability, breathability, and weather resistance.
In the global market, Textilene is commonly used as a generic reference name for this type of material. Technically, it belongs to the category of PVC extrusion-coated yarn mesh fabrics, which are engineered to withstand UV exposure, moisture, and mechanical stress over many years.
At Duletai, Textilene-type materials are manufactured under strict quality control to meet the requirements of professional furniture factories and commercial outdoor projects.
How textilene fabric is made?
Textilene fabric is produced using yarn-level PVC extrusion technology, not surface coating or lamination.
1. Polyester Base Yarn Preparation
High-tenacity polyester filament yarns are selected. These yarns provide, Structural strength,Low elongation,Long-term dimensional stability
2. PVC Particle Melting & Compounding
PVC resin particles are melted under controlled temperature. During melting, additives are blended into the PVC:UV stabilizers/Color pigments/Plasticizers (for flexibility)/Anti-fungal / anti-mildew agents. Color is built into the PVC compound, not applied later.
3. PVC Extrusion-Coated Yarn
The molten PVC is extruded directly onto each polyester yarn. This creates a fully encapsulated yarn, where: Polyester core = strength PVC shell = protection
4. Weaving into Open Mesh Fabric
The extrusion-coated yarns are woven into precisely controlled mesh structures.Mesh openness is designed for: Airflow/Comfort/Load-bearing performance. Common constructions include plain weave and basket weave patterns.
5. Heat Setting & Stabilization
The woven fabric undergoes heat setting:Locks fabric dimensions, Reduces long-term stretch, Improves tension stability. This step is critical for sling chairs and tensioned furniture.
6. Inspection & Quality Control
Finished Phifertex® fabric is tested for:Tensile strength/UV resistance/Color fastness/Thickness & weight consistency.Only fabrics meeting strict standards are released to market.
